Gerry Bonds

Emmy award winning journalist and television personality, Gerry Bonds, was inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame in 2008.

She has served as prime time anchor on two ABC affiliates during her career, in New Haven Connecticut at WTNH-TV for seven years, and in Oklahoma City at KOCO-TV for nine years. She was also the spokesperson for a regular award-winning feature called "Oklahoma Pride", which involved travel to all parts of the state, promoting the image and heritage of Oklahoma. During her subsequent fourteen year career in public television in Oklahoma City, Gerry anchored the nightly "Oklahoma News Report" and hosted her own award-winning weekly program, "OKC Metro." In 2010, she earned an Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences as host of 'OKC Metro," in addition to earning three more regional Emmy nominations for her work in Oklahoma and Connecticut. Other national and state awards include the 2009 Excellence in Communication Award from the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, the Governors Arts Award for media, the National American Legion Auxiliary Golden Mike Award, the Byliners Award from Women in Communications Inc., and an award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
